My name is May Stanfield, and I am currently a sophomore at Wake Forest University. I plan to major in Chemistry with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery. I am a double minor in Writing and Biology. My ultimate goal is to attend medical school.
My favorite class this semester has been my writing class, WRI 210, with Dr. Keri Epps. This class focuses on genres and discourse communities and has allowed me to write on topics I actually care about, particularly organic chemistry education.

As I've progressed further into my college education, especially in organic chemistry classes, it's become evident that the traditional ways of teaching organic chemistry fall short of providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. I found this is especially perpetuated within the complex matter of organic chemistry textbook writing. WRI 210 helped me voice my opinions on this topic.

My hope is that this website serves as a tool for organic chemistry educators and textbook writers for properly writing textbooks for novices. Click on the "Perfect Textbook" tab to learn more!
